Portrait Workshop With Scott Bridgwood

 

Saturday February 18th 10.00am to 4.00pm

 

To Be Held At Woodhouse Eaves Village Hall Annex

 

Scott Bridgwood is a professional artist who has worked in Rome as a mural painter and portrait artist and also taught at the British Cultural Institute. He is the past chairman of Leicester Society of Artists and teaches portraiture and life drawing at Embrace Arts, Leicester University and Rawlings Community College as well as exhibiting his work widely. Scott's methods for portraiture focus on the passage of light across the face which helps to find facial landmarks. This in turn, assists in placing the facial elements and finding their correct proportions. The workshop will be full of interesting exercises leading to a final portrait.

 

Basic materials required

 Plenty of A2 white cartridge paper (10 - 15 sheets) An A2 book form the Works would be fine ,a couple of sheets of buff sugar paper, a drawing board and masking tape.

 Charcoal sticks (not compressed),a rubber to use with charcoal, a set of sketching pencils and a basic set of chalk pastels.

 Paint (media of your choice.(eg; acrylic or oil etc.) bring at least a red, blue, yellow ochre and white and your usual painting equipment.

  A surface for a final painting, e.g. (quality paper or canvas board etc.)

 Ideally, participants would bring an easel or a table easel would suffice.

 

 Numbers ………………… limited to 14. Please book early.

The deadline date is January 20th.

 Workshop cost…………… £20 which includes tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day.

 Lunch ……………………….. Please bring your own packed lunch.

 The above meeting points, other than Rail / Bus Station days, are simply starting places for a 2hr walk with stops of approximately 5 mins to draw or photograph the area.

Rail / Bus Station. Meet at lOam for a destination yet to be decided. These trips may be more than 2hrs but the intention is to return before 5pm.
