MOUNTAIN GORILLAS COME TO LOUGHBOROUGH
September 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
On the evening of Wednesday 22nd September Charnwood Drawing & Painting Club will host a special wildlife event the centre-piece of which will be a live art demonstration by the acclaimed wildlife artist Eric Watson. His subject – mountain gorillas with their young – will not feature live primates but with the return of live events, Paul Lockton, Club Chair, said he expects there will be a bumper attendance.
“This will be only our second live art demonstration of 2021 and we are proud to welcome Eric to entertain us. In a fascinating two-hour exhibition, Eric will be using something new – pastel and watercolour pencils”, said Paul.
Eric Watson’s work very much reflects his love of nature and his paintings are highly detailed and well portrayed using a variety of techniques including pastels, watercolour pencils, and mixed media. His artworks focus on utilizing light and shadow and in recognition of his skills he was rewarded with a Silver Citation by The Wildlife Art Society International in 2019. Eric had this to say about his work –
“My main aim is through art and coaching to develop the artistic abilities of my audience but, also via my Nature through Art programme, I hope to help the wildlife and eco-structure by raising awareness and attention to the threats posed to wildlife and the natural environment”.
Wednesday’s demonstration will be two-hours long starting at 7pm. I will take place at The ARC Community Centre, Knox Road, Loughborough LE11 2UP. The event will also be projected onto a big screen and will be available online to a wider audience so that no-one misses out. Members and guests are all warmly welcomed and will be expected to observe social distancing rules by wearing a mask on arrival. A small cover charge will apply including tea/coffee and biscuits at the interval. Free parking is provided at The ARC.
