We were treated to a full day workshop by Jeremy Bournon, who had previously given a demonstration to the club earlier in the year. Jeremy first gave a talk on the influences of Cezanne and Pissaro, and the geometric lines that they used to create their compositions.
Following the art history chat, we got down to work. We had all been supplied with a board painted in a dark red with brushes, acrylic paint etc also given out. A reference picture of a rural scene was also provided.
We started with black (emphasis on not a colour in nature but we used it anyway) to paint in the darkest darks. Followed by viridian green and blue mixed and put on top of the black. Next came the sky … not the clouds…then greens and yellows, followed by a biscuity colour made with white, a touch of yellow and a touch of red, this formed the track. Eventually the clouds were put in and finally to brighten it all up a touch of red/orange.
It was a very informative day, which we all enjoyed, thank you Jeremy, you must have been ready for that glass of wine when you got home!
