Summer Exhibition 2025

On the 7th and 8th of July, the charming village of Woodhouse Eaves came alive with its annual Open Gardens Weekend. This beloved event not only showcased the village’s stunning gardens but also featured our annual Club exhibition, located at the Youth and Community Centre behind the village hall.

Doors opened at 10 AM, and we were delighted to see a steady stream of visitors throughout both days. The exhibition was a testament to the creativity and dedication of our club members, who submitted an impressive array of artworks across various genres and mediums. This diversity ensured there was something to appeal to every taste, culminating in the sale of five pieces—a fantastic achievement! Congratulations to the artists whose work found new homes; it’s always gratifying to see your creations appreciated.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the interest shown in the sketchbooks provided by our Walk and Draw members. Visitors eagerly flipped through the pages, sparking engaging conversations about the health benefits of getting outdoors and taking the time to appreciate our surroundings. We hope this inspires more people to join in on this enriching activity!

Building on the success of last year’s initiative, we once again set up two large tables filled with “unwanted” art materials, including books, paints, brushes, and more. This resource proved to be a hit, allowing club members to declutter their studios while also providing an opportunity to purchase new supplies at great prices.

This year, the raffle prize was a stunning framed watercolour of Belvoir Castle, generously donated by Phil Biggs. All proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will be donated to Rainbows, a charity close to our hearts. The results of the raffle and the “Best in Show” award, voted on by the public, will be announced once the votes are tallied.

As always, the refreshments area was a popular spot, thanks in large part to the incredible array of baked goods donated by our members. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, whether by baking or indulging in the delicious treats!

Finally, a BIG THANK YOU to all the members and non-members who helped make this exhibition a success. Your support is invaluable, and together we created a fantastic display of our collective talent while raising funds for both the Club and Rainbows Charity.

We look forward to seeing you at next year’s event!

Cheryl Cooper, club member.
